Martha from Sunnyside, WA asks: “How does evil “skip” a generation? Is that what happened with King Hezekiah in the bible? His father was extremely evil, then Hezekiah began his reign and did what was right in the sight of the Lord.”
Bob: King Hezekiah in the Old Testament (2 Kings 18:3) obeyed God, but his father, Ahaz, did not (2 Kings 16:2). The curse of Ahaz could not land on his son but did affect future generations. Curses can skip over godly generations, but the curse is still there in hiding and needs to be broken. Christians must make certain that all curses are broken now and for generations to come, by declaring them broken through prayer.
